NYPA Youth / Novice Clinic

May 31, 2008
SUNY Cobleskill College, in Cobleskill, New York
There is no charge for this event.

Brian and Stacie Lynch of Goshen, CT have been raising, training, showing and judging draft horses of all breeds for many years. Currently the Lynches own 14 Percherons of which they compete and demonstrate a six horse hitch, Utopia Percherons, throughout the Northeast. Their operation is a family affair.

Brian grew up on the Kriz Brothers Farm in Bethany, CT where he learned to shoe a draft horse from some of the best Farriers in the country. He worked with John, Joe, Tim, Glenn and Joe Jr. from the time he was 12 years old until he ventured out on his own as a full time Farrier in the year 2000. Brian enjoys researching and studying Percheron pedigrees.

Stacie’s family, NYPA members, Frank, Karen, Kim and Frank Jr. Castella, have raised and shown Percherons since 1978 in Pleasant Valley, NY. She has been raised with horses since infancy and has been competing at the draft horse shows since she was 8 years old. Currently Stacie is an implementations coordinator installing internet banking software for financial institutions and has recently started an equine photography business, Stacie C. Lynch Photography.

Brian and Stacie pride themselves in sharing their knowledge with youths, as well as, adults interested in draft horses. They have instructed clinics including the Maine Percheron Horse Association Clinic and the 2003 Percheron Horse Association of America Youth/Adult Hostel Clinic.

Brian and Stacie are anxious to share as much information as possible during the clinic which will include:

  • Rolling the mane and tying the tail for show,
  • showmanship, confirmation, shoeing for show-- and
  • driving single and multiple hitches.
